Carolyn Westoby opens worship and welcomes everyone on this snowy / freezing rain morning and the energy in worship fills the Sanctuary. People are still ‘pumped’ from the exciting Trivia evening held last night. Great fun!

REFLECTION “How can we talk about God and be honest with ourselves?”
Trinity is happy to announce that the Rev. Dr. Alan C. Minarcik will be serving here at Trinity for the next while. He is a retired United Church minister who has managed to have a busy retirement. He and his wife Clare celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last year. They have three children: Karen, who is a school teacher in Nunavut, Rachel who is the mother of their two grandchildren (and husband Barry) live in Saskatoon, and son John who works in St. Catharines and lives in Welland with his wife, Brandie.
Alan was born in and has lived in New York City. He met his wife Clare at a church dance and the rest is history. Alan taught Latin for two years before attending Princeton Theological Seminary and was ordained in the United Presbyterian Church of the USA in 1968. He also received a Doctorate in Pastoral Care and Counseling. Alan and Clare immigrated to Canada in 1979 where he became a member of the order of ministry of the United Church of Canada the next year. He has served parishes in New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Ontario and Saskatchewan. He has worked as a chaplain at the Saskatoon Veterans Home, Hotel Dieu Hospital and Hotel Dieu/Shaver Rehab Hospital (parttime for the past 16 years).
Alan and Clare have been active in the communities where they reside, and currently live at Albright Gardens in Beamsville. The Garden is a community of retirees (and near retirement) United Church pensioners. Alan will be working with the Pastoral Care Team and will visit and respond to requests for visits. Additionally, Alan will be available to help and respond to crisis. We welcome Alan to Trinity and look forward to working with him in Svinda’s absence.
